Well, Jack turned 13 months yesterday, but here is a recap of his first birthday... we actually celebrated twice - once on the day of his birthday, April 29th, and then once that weekend with best buddy Magnus, Marcella, Ray, Mimi and Grampa G. We decided that a Radio Flyer All Terrain Wagon would be a great way to get around the neighborhood. Jack agrees...
Mama and Daddy had a Margarita to celebrate Jack's birthday. Jack 'enjoyed' a lime. We're awful ;)
Since we celebrated twice, of course we had to have 2 cakes. Our kitchen was tied up the whole day with painters, so I wasn't able to get at the stove to bake a cake. Against all of my natural and organic preferences, we broke down and bought a cake at Costco. Gerald picked it out (so cute and SO BIG!). Jack, as you can see, wasn't really sure what to do with it at first. After a quick taste, though, he started to dig right in.
Grampa G. and Mimi showed up a few days later ready to party. I love this photo of Jack with his Grampa G. We have similar photos of Grampa. G. with my Grampa O. and then of me with my Dad. It's such a touching photo.

Round 2 of Cake ... This is the cake that I baked. Never again! First of all, I'm not that great in the kitchen. Second of all, for those of you who don't know this, baking at high altitude is an art in itself. It's hard! Then, of course, I didn't buy enough frosting, so I was only able to cover 1 side of the cake. Ugh. Oh, well! Jack knew what this was all about and got right down to business!
Time for presents! Jack received some fabulous gifts - thank you, everyone! We're excited to use the baby pool in the summer, and Jack already loves to swing on the porch. It's great in the evening with BBQs!
It was a wonderful week of celebrations! *sniff* I can't believe the first year has come and gone ... our little boy is just growing up so quickly! Here's to many many more birthdays and memories!

I think you should try Brownies next time, from what I remember they always came out nice (well, what was left after we ate all the batter with our fingers!!) Jack is beyond beautiful!!!!!! love the new pics!!! ~Beth
Happy Birthday Jack! I can't believe it's been a year all ready. Reagan is right behind you, turning one in September. Looks like you enjoyed both cakes!
