Jack, Gerald and I are happy to announce the arrival of Sam Alexander Theron! Sam was born on Sunday, March 15th at 1:34 am weighing 7 pounds 6 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. He is a sweet little boy and a wonderful addition to our family! I will be posting more over the next few days, but this is a recap of Sam's first three days here...
The entire labor and delivery experience was, once again, wonderful. I drove myself to the hospital (Mimi was with Jack and Gerald was working) but I wasn't feeling painful contractions. So, driving was a breeze! Once at the hospital, they monitored my contractions, which were every 3 minutes. At around 7:45, Dr. Nagle ruptured my membranes and everything escalated from there. Gerald and Mimi were in the room with me, and, without any pain medications, Sam was delivered 6 hours later. He was alert and instantly ready for the world! Having my Mom there to coach me through the labor was so important. And having Gerald there to watch the birth of his second son was priceless. We are, to say the least, enamored with the little man! Here he is - enjoy the photos!
Just a few minutes old ... with big brother Jack already 'looking' over him...
It almost looks like he's smiling!
It's hard to see, but his actual weight: 7 lbs 6 ozs.
Measuring his head...

The hospital team - they were wonderful!
Snuggling with Mama.
Jack meeting his little brother for the first time!
First official family photo.
With Mimi. Jack is about to open his gift from Sam.
It's a Tonka fire engine and it's a HUGE hit.
Proud Mimi.
Proud Dada.
Ready to go home. Jack wore this exact outfit home from the hospital and I wore the same sweater home, as well!!
Packed up in the car seat and ready to go!
Home at last!
Jack greeted us and Daddy took him for a quick scooter spin...
Here, Sam is asleep in his bassinet. This bassinet has been in my family for many years - my uncle, aunt and mother all slept in it. As well as myself, my sister and all of my cousins. It has then been passed down to my cousins' children, then Jack and now Sam. It's a very special heirloom.
We're all doing very well. Jack is incredibly sweet with his little brother - always asking for him, saying hello and giving him kisses. We couldn't ask for two more amazing little boys!
