A Trip to the Denver Zoo

Jack just adores animals, so we decided to pack up the car and head to the Denver Zoo. The night before, we stayed at a nearby Radisson Hotel, which I might add, Jack thought was the best! There was no real way to contain him (since Sam was in the Pack-n-Play), so he had free reign of the room. Which, therefore, led to a very late bed time! It didn't seem to effect him, for he was up bright and early and ready to Go!

Daddy showing Jack all of the animals - both the ones in his favorite book and the live ones just a few feet away.

A few months ago, we bought Jack his "monkey-on-your-back" back pack/harness. We figured that the zoo would be the PERFECT place to really test it out. Let me tell you, Jack was not excited. He kept trying to wiggle out of it and would crawl on all fours trying to get as low as possible to the ground (with the hopes that it would go away?). So, after 10 minutes of struggling, he ended up back in the stroller. After much discontent, he eventually gave in and just chilled in the stroller and enjoyed the view...

It was HOT there - taking a big swig of water...

Little Man Sam also stopped to have a snack. He's getting SO big!! Look at that belly!

Some of the animals that we saw. Probably the favorites were the Primates, but specifically, the Big Apes. We captured most of them on video but didn't get a very good photo. Jack was mesmerized by their size and overall presence. We were all very impressed.

"Yes, Jack, we evolved from Apes. I guess that explains your desire to climb on EVERYTHING!" :)

What a way to see the zoo! Sam slept a lot of the time.

We were very curious to see how Jack would handle the carousel - just because we know how busy body he is and we weren't too sure if he would sit still. Amazingly, he sat on his deer the entire time. We couldn't get a smile out of him, but that didn't mean he didn't enjoy the ride. He was really just taking it all in! When we got home, he kept on saying "round and round!" - proof that he loved the Merry-Go-Round.

The Denver Zoo is a great place for the entire family. We're looking forward to going back again!

I love zoos! I laughed about your "monkey on the back" backpack story. When we first tried ours it was hard to not yank on the leash like we did with our dog. We used it once...and now it's in my to-sell-on-Ebay pile.
