Sam and I took a trip to Berkeley over Memorial Day weekend to visit Aunties Amy and Molly - a visit that has been long over due. Even though the weather was rather poor for most of the weekend, we still kept a tight schedule and really made the most of our time...
We ventured over the Bay Bridge to San Francisco for an afternoon of strolling our old neighborhood, drinking coffee and window shopping. It was great to be back in the hustle and bustle of a city and see the different styles, faces and attitudes that the West Coast is so well known for. I got a little nostalgic being back in our old space - we had such a great time when we were there.
Below are a few photos from the weekend...
Sam with Auntie Amy - he's gotten so big since the last time she saw him!
Amy and Molly's dining room - set for a wonderful breakfast. They live on the top floor of Molly's Aunt and Uncle's BEAUTIFUL home in Berkeley, just off of College Ave. There is so much light in every room and when you look out, you are overwhelmed by an enormous amount of flowers and trees. We likened it to being in a jungle - everything is overgrown and massive. It's breathtaking, really.
Our dear friend, Michael, from NMH, came by for the morning with his fiancee. It was wonderful to catch up with him after all these years and it was very special to have him meet, and hold, Sam. It's hard to believe, after all these years, that he is about to get married and I have two beautiful boys... Time certainly goes by quickly.
That night, one of my roommates from Ireland, Kelly, came over to welcome the New Moon - a festivity that Amy and Molly celebrate each month. It was great to see her, since we've only seen each other once in 10 years. She lives just a few towns over and introduced us to her husband and her little boy, Finn.
The sun finally came out on Monday, so Amy and I took Sam for a little hike. He was asleep and not to pleased that I tried to get a photo of him... You can see Berkeley in the background, as well as the Bay. Due to the famous fog, you can't quite see San Francisco.
It was a calm, relaxing weekend away. Thank goodness for Skype, though, because I definitely missed Gerald and Jack. This trip was the longest time spent away from my little man. Needless to say, it was nice to return home....
