The Basics...

Ok, here are the physical basics of Jack these days... Now 11 months, he has 6 teeth, which is allowing him to eat just about anything! The kid has a palate of a true foodie. He enjoys everything from avocados to spinach to cod. Of course, like his Daddy, he has a sweet tooth and loves fruit and juice. We've even taught him to "Cheers!" with us - his sippy cup to our wine glasses. Or coffee mug. It's pretty darn cute.

Though he hasn't been weighed since his 9 month check up, I believe that he's around 23 pounds. And TALL! About 30 inches! He's a little weed and growing up way too fast...

For quite some time now, we've thought that Jack was "just about to walk!". Quite some time as in 4 months. He began standing at an early age and now he is very quick with his push toys - running about the house even. But, he's reluctant to let go and walk on his own(though he did take 6 steps without any help the other day, but then realized what he was doing and sat down). Also, he recognizes that it's much quicker to get from point A to point B by crawling. Or bear walking (butt in the air and tearing around). Soon enough, though, he'll be a two legged cruiser!

For an 11 month old, Jack has an impressive vocabulary. Of course each word is not pronunciated perfectly, but his tone and syllable use is very direct and we can figure out what he's trying to communicate. We've also been working on a consistent use of sign language, which has been amazing to see him absorb. It'll be tremendously useful once his motor skills become more developed. But, in terms of words, he now says 'Dada', 'Mama' (in that order of frequency), 'Cheers' (chissss), 'Kitty Cat' (ki-ka), a cow says 'Mooooooooo' and a dog says 'Wuh', 'Stinky' (stin-ty), 'ball', 'boom' (as he throws all of his 'friends' out of his crib) and his 'friends' are Lala and Zeke (both of which he can say). If he isn't saying anything in particular, he is constantly 'Blah, Blah, Blah' ing.

As soon as I mentioned that the snow was melting and spring was trying to arrive, the Aspen area was pounded with more snow. So, we're still waiting for mild weather. Hopefully it'll be here before Jack's first birthday and we can par-tay on our new deck and back yard! Cross your fingers....

Jack is so handsome! His chocolate eyes are amazing! I thought of you the other day when I saw the weather report...more snow in CO! You'll have nice weather before you know it. I can't believe he's almost 1...where has the time gone?
