Two summers ago, I won a local road race. The prize: lunch and a dog sled ride for two at Krabloonik restaurant and dog sledding company in Snowmass. Since I was pregnant last winter, we waited until this past weekend to cash in the goods. It was a blast! Jack stayed with Mimi for the day, and we had a good ole time of being husband and wife in the back country of Colorado. Krabloonik is an impressive place, kenneling over 260 dogs (some of which were Iditarod retirees) and hosting the most technical course in the lower 48. There were a few times that I thought we were going down (taking turns in a sled at a fast pace can make you tighten a little!), but our 10 dogs and skilled Musher got us back to the fire place in one piece. Below are the photos - the day started with blue bird skies, but a storm came in and blocked most of our unbelievable views of all the 14,000 footers. You can only imagine the peaks of the Maroon Bells, Pyramid and Capitol... it was breathtaking!
Above, our "Leaders", Chip and Helen. Helen was the real deal... you should have seen her keep these guys in check - you go girl!
What a great date day! Stay tuned - we have tons of recent photos (Jack's first pair of cowboy boots!).
